Misc. 3: Multifunctional Sugar Molds

There was one vendor who literally just had piles of these things! They're sugar molds from Mexico. Apparently, crushed sugar cane is melted and packed into each slot. Then they harden into conical blocks to be sold at market. I love finding interesting pieces that have a whole history to them! Plus these have so many design possibilities! Votive holders, pencil/pen desk organizers, mantel/coffee table centerpieces, wall art, remote organizers?? Endless ideas!

How would you use them?

Misc. 2: Big Words

How great are these signs?!

Couldn't you imagine this one in a really contemporary loft?
(it's about 12' long!)

Mmm how inventive and delish does this sound? I'm such a goat's milk cheese and yogurt fan!
Anyone know where I can find some of this fudge??

Misc.

I always count down the days to the first Randolph Street Market of the year! This weekend's did not disappoint. From goat-shaped scrap metal to vintage goat milk fudge signs, there were tons of unique pieces! Here's a sample of what I encountered... stay tuned to see more!

Escargot, anyone?

A little friend found on the Cannes red carpet! ... Clearly he's mugging for the camera.
>:)

Reminds me of a time when the fam and I took our own barge trip throughout France... Ok, so the budding biologist in me was completely enamored with all of the little snailies clinging to the sides of the lochs. Long story short, one morning the 50+ snails escaped from the snailitarium I'd constructed (avec grass, food, and water... of course simulating a near-perfect habitat). We kept finding them in our luggage, the cabinets, steering wheel, you name it! Lessons learned: 1.) Snails are not slow-movers 2.) Snails do not like to be confined to "snailitariums" 3.) They evidently can hear when someone talks about butter and garlic... this was the same trip that began my unabashed love affair with escargot... 4.) It is better to admire snails from afar than unknowingly bring stowaways over the Atlantic. There are probably a few more I could squeeze out of this (to be posted if recalled!)...

P.S. Going along with the French theme here, I figured I'd share what I plan on making this tomorrow! Easy way to put an excess of stale bread to good (and delicious) use after a party! Serving suggestion: avec escargot! Mmmm...

If my current career aspirations fall through...

Such a creative and efficient shop! This concept reminds me of the documentary Food Fight -- check it out, really great information. Plus it has a very positive and promising ending!

Coolest place I may have ever seen.

Leave it to the Scandinavians! What an absolutely delightful and tranquil place to be! Waking up with the sun and cheery greens (inside and outside) to a beautiful glassy lake. Stargazing by night. A faint chorus of frogs as background music. When can I move in??

Which would probably go well with brie + dark chocolate + strawberries ... croque-monsieur style, perhaps?
